CHAPTER 3_ FOUNDATIONS OF HUMAN ACTIVITY

 The main Indian tribe of the city is Paiute's. but before the Paiute's,"The Tudinu (or Desert People), ancestors of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe, occupied the territory encompassing part of the Colorado River, most of Southeastern Nevada and parts of both Southern California and Utah". The Paiute Indians have lived on the land for tens of thousands of years. The Paiute tribe continues to live in Las Vegas, just a little north of downtown. The first Spanish explorer to set foot in Las Vegas was Rafael Rivera. Rafael named the city Las Vegas because when he arrived, the city was very green, and looked like a never ending meadow.The largest immigrant population that came to Las Vegas were Both the English and the Irish. They were both very influential in the mining and railroad industries. Their are a lot of religious backgrounds that contribute to the religious aspect of Las Vegas. The most dominant religion of Las Vegas has said to be Roman Catholic but their are also many other religious backgrounds that live in the area of Las Vegas.
